Nestled in the heart of Loughborough, Leicestershire, the Gurdwara Sahib Loughborough serves as a vibrant spiritual and cultural hub for the Sikh community and beyond. Our Gurdwara is more than just a place of worship—it is a centre for community service, cultural exchange, and interfaith harmony, welcoming individuals from all walks of life to experience Sikh traditions and values.
The story of Gurdwara Sahib Loughborough is one of faith, unity, and dedication. In 1960, two pioneering Sikh families settled in Loughborough, planting the seeds of what would become a thriving community. By 1976, with approximately 20 families, the desire for regular Satsang (spiritual gatherings) grew. Initially, the congregation met monthly at St. Peter’s Hall, where members brought the Guru Granth Sahib and individually prepared Langar (community meals).
Today, Gurdwara Sahib Loughborough is supported by over 40 families who actively participate in its daily operations and services. From organizing Paath (scripture readings) and Kirtan (devotional singing) to preparing and serving Langar, the spirit of volunteerism and selfless service remains at the core of our community.
We strive to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Sikhism while fostering understanding and goodwill among all communities. Through religious services, educational programs, youth initiatives, and social support, we aim to inspire spiritual growth, community cohesion, and cultural awareness.
Whether you seek spiritual solace, wish to engage in community service, or simply want to learn more about Sikhism, Gurdwara Sahib Loughborough warmly invites you to be part of our journey. Together, we celebrate the timeless principles of equality, service, and compassion.
